6N: Lawes, Brown back for England against Scotland
Mar. 11, 2015
LONDON (AP) — England recalled lock Courtney Lawes after injury and fullback Mike Brown after concussion for a reaction to the defeat to Ireland in Saturday's Six Nations match against Scotland at Twickenham.
Lawes has been out for two months with an ankle problem, and proved his fitness in two matches for English club Northampton.
Brown missed the 19-9 loss in Dublin, which cost England the chance of a first Grand Slam since 2003, after a setback in his recovery from a concussion suffered during a win over Italy in Round 2.
Alex Goode made way for Brown, and George Kruis also dropped out of the matchday 23 to allow for the return of Lawes. Geoff Parling was called up to the bench as second-row cover, while flanker Tom Wood and prop Kieran Brookes are also back as reserves.
An injury to Brad Barritt ensured Luther Burrell kept his place at inside center in the team named on Wednesday.
England's chances of winning the title rely on Ireland losing at Wales on Saturday.
England: Mike Brown, Anthony Watson, Jonathan Joseph, Luther Burrell, Jack Nowell, George Ford, Ben Youngs; Billy Vunipola, Chris Robshaw (captain), James Haskell, Courtney Lawes, Dave Attwood, Dan Cole, Dylan Hartley, Joe Marler.
