BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina town alderman has been charged by police with assault on a female.
Black Mountain police told local news outlets 38-year-old Jeremie Konegni was taken into custody Sunday after officers responded to a call from his residence. The incident is being described as a domestic disturbance.
Konegni was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, shortly before the board of aldermen is set to meet for its regular monthly meeting.
Online records didn't indicate Konegni's status on Monday and it's not known if he has an attorney.
Konegni won a seat on the board last November to win a seat vacated by a board member who didn't seek re-election.
