COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont's Green Mountain Power is sending 43 line workers, supervisors and mechanics south to lend assistance after a major coastal storm.
Officials said power was restored to 8,000 Vermont homes and businesses on Friday, and resources are now available to assist elsewhere.
The Green Mountain crews left early Saturday for New York's Hudson Valley, where more than 50,000 homes and businesses are without power. The workers will be making repairs and setting new poles for several days.
Kristin Carlson from Green Mountain said in a statement that "we take care of our customers first and then are ready to work hard for our neighbors."
