Germans Lead Luge Doubles Heat

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) _ Patric Leitner and Alexander Resch of Germany broke the track record and led the two United States sleds after the first run of luge doubles Friday.
Leitner and Resch slid sixth in the field of 19 sleds and broke the track record with a run of 42.953 seconds.
Chris Thorpe of Marquette, Mich. and Clay Ives of Bancroft, Canada were second at 43.013 seconds. Mark Grimmette of Muskegon, Mich. and Brian Martin of Palo Alto, Calif. were third in 43.111 seconds.
In fourth was the tandem of Steffen Skel and Steffen Woeller of Germany with a time of 43.121. Austrian cousins Tobias and Markus Schiegl were fifth in 43.208.
