Police ID pedestrian struck and killed by pickup in Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) — Police have released the name of a 59-year-old man who was struck and killed as he crossed a road in Superior.
The victim is identified as Kenneth Meinke of Superior. Police say Meinke was crossing Tower Avenue, which is Highway 35, when a pickup truck with a plow struck him shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday. Meinke died at the scene.
Police say Meinke apparently was in the crosswalk. The road was wet at the time.
Authorities say the 38-year-old man from Duluth, Minnesota, who was driving the pickup has been cooperating with investigators.
Superior police and the Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating.
