OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Colorado will play Fresno State in Boulder, Colo., in the inaugural Jim Thorpe Classic on Aug. 25.

Colorado of the Big 12 Conference finished 3-8 last season, while Fresno State of the Western Athletic Conference finished 7-5 and lost to Air Force in the Silicon Valley Classic in December.

``The Jim Thorpe name represents the very best of our nation's sports history and also reflects the great heritage of Native American sports,'' said Lynn Draper, executive director of the Jim Thorpe Association.

The game still needs final approval from the NCAA, which is expected at a meeting April 24-26.
