Oregon man accused of hammer attack on ex-girlfriend, others

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Police arrested a Klamath Falls man accused of striking people with a hammer and nearly running over another person with a vehicle.
Klamath Falls police said in a news release that 60-year-old William Aune broke into his ex-girlfriend's house Saturday night and struck the woman and her brother with a hammer. Both were seriously hurt.
He then stole a vehicle from one of the victims and tried to hit someone who was standing in the street. He continued driving to another house, where he tried to hit another person with the hammer.
Police arrested Aune on that block. He was booked into jail on charges of attempted murder, assault and other crimes. It's unknown if he has a lawyer.
The ex-girlfriend and her brother were taken to a local hospital. The woman was later flown to Bend for additional treatment.
