Three Hanes Baby Items Recalled
Nov. 08, 2000
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) _ Sara Lee Underwear issued a voluntary recall of three Hanes Baby items because they are decorated with decals that could flake after washing.
Sara Lee said Tuesday it has received no complaints of injuries related to the puffed decals, but an infant who swallowed particles from the decals could suffer discomfort or choking.
The items recalled, which came out earlier this year, are:
_One-piece, long-sleeved knit union suits with snaps down the front, decorated with either a giraffe or cow decal on the left chest.
_Receiving blankets in blue, yellow or pink striped cotton-knit fabric with a zebra decal on the corner.
_Hooded towels in safari-print terry cloth with an elephant and birdbath decal on the hood, or in yellow-trimmed white terry cloth with a pig and chicken decal on the hood.
Product codes are HBUSS, HBMUSS, HBRBS, IRBWRB, HBTWP, HBMTWP, IRBWTW and IRBWUS.
The company told stores to take the items off shelves and is offering consumers who return them either a refund or coupons for other Hanes Baby brand items. Consumers can call 1-800-959-6523 to receive a postage-paid label to return the items.
