Litter Bug Gets Boot in Hong Kong

HONG KONG (AP) _ A man who repeatedly tossed bottles out of his apartment window in Hong Kong was ordered to leave, becoming the first tenant evicted under a new government scheme to deter litter bugs, officials and media reports said Thursday.
The man, Yuen Kin-man, previously spent four months in jail for throwing bottles from his 25th-floor flat. He was given one month to move out of his subsidized apartment, or will be evicted by force, housing official Lau Kai-hung said.
Yuen was also caught twice dumping domestic waste indiscriminately, a government statement said.
Three closed-circuit television cameras were aimed at the corridor outside Yuen's apartment to monitor his behavior, the Ming Pao Daily reported. He told the paper the ruling was unfair and unacceptable.
Yuen's neighbors were quoted as saying they were happy to see him go after describing him as ``a nightmare'' and a ``littering crazy man,'' the South China Morning Post reported.
