PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) _ Jimmie Rainwater and Jason Franklin scored 14 points apiece to lead the University of Portland to an 82-62 win over Southern Oregon in a non-conference basketball game Thursday night.
Luke Palumbis and Travis Andrews added 10 points each for the Pilots (2-0), who built a 30-24 halftime lead.
Dave Arbow and Barron Lacy led the Raiders (1-2) with 11 points apiece and Amos Baker added 10.
Rainwater, who had 13 of his total in the second half, connected on three fast-break layups in the opening four minutes of the second half.
The Pilots went on a 14-4 run to open the second half.
Portland built the lead to 52-34 with 13:19 remaining on a hook shot from Philip Dejworek. Eric Sandrin sank a pair of free throws with 7:59 left to give the Pilots their biggest lead of the game, 67-47.
Behind Arbow and Ryan Valley, the Raiders made the game close in the first half. Portland's biggest lead in the first half was 24-15 on a layup from Dionn Holton with 5:30 left.
