LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say two people were killed and a third was critically injured in two separate car crashes in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Las Vegas police were called to a single-vehicle wreck at about 1:30 a.m. in the north side of the city.

Police Sgt. Robert Stauffer says a car flipped to its side and became lodged between a pole and a brick wall. He says the driver died at the scene and speed appeared to be a factor.

Nevada Highway Patrol responded to rollover crash at about 4:45 a.m. on southbound Highway 95 in west Las Vegas.

Troopers say two people were not wearing seatbelts. One person died and the second was injured.

Troopers say marijuana and alcohol impairment were factors in the wreck.
