MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Courtney Romeiser sank two free throws with 2:25 left to lift Marquette to a 67-65 victory Thursday over No. 24 De Paul and win the championship of the Great Midwest Conference.
Tammy Williams of De Paul missed a 3-point shot with five seconds left. She then stole the ball on an inbounds pass with 1 second remaining and launched a 3-point shot at the buzzer from just inside the halfcourt mark.
Marquette, which beat De Paul for the second time this season, finished its conference schedule 10-0. Marquette is 20-6 overall.
De Paul, which could have won a share of the conference title, dropped to 7-2 and 17-8 with one conference game remaining in its regular season.
Kristen Maskala, a junior who played as a freshmen at De Paul, led Marquette with 21 points.
Latonia Williams led De Paul with 15 points and Rita Hale and Tammy Williams added 14 apiece.
