Texaco Completes Discovery Well in Texas

Undated (AP) _ Texaco Inc. said Wednesday it has successfully completed an initial exploration well that discovered natural gas in an onshore field in Texas.
Natural gas was tested at a rate of 7 million cubic feet a day from depths between 16.692 feet and 16,794 feet at the Texaco No. 1 Blanche Herring well.
The well, located about 60 miles north-northwest of Corpus Christi in Live Oak County and was drilled to a total depth of 17,744 feet.
Additional drilling planned to further develop the project.
Texaco owns a 50 percent interest in the well and is operator of the project. Other partners are Pel-Tex Oil Co., 26.75 percent; Freeport-McMoRan Energy Partners Ltd., 11.25 percent; Transco Exploration Partners Ltd., 8 percent; and Tesoro Petroleum Corp., 4 percent.
