MENTAL HEALTH STUDY

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Pennington County will pursue a grant aimed at improving mental health services in western South Dakota, which many say are lacking. SIOUX FALLS-HISTORIC HOMES

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Sioux Falls City Council has spared four historic homes from demolition. The 6-0 vote on Tuesday to save the homes flew in the face of plans to redevelop an entire city block. The decision came after lengthy public input from the site developer's attorney, historic preservation advocates and neighbors. SENT: 270 words.

SEAHAWKS-MINNESOTA CONNECTION

RENTON, Wash. — When the Seattle Seahawks looked to bolster the interior of its defense in the offseason, it looked to Minnesota for the help. The Seahawks signed former Vikings defensive linemen Tom Johnson and Shamar Stephen. They are likely to get their most extensive action of the preseason on Friday against their former team. LYNX-SPARKS

LOS ANGELES — Chelsea Gray scored 26 points, helping the Los Angeles Sparks beat the defending champion Minnesota Lynx 75-68 Tuesday night to advance to the second round of the WNBA playoffs. It was the fourth straight year Los Angeles and Minnesota have met in an elimination playoff game — with each team winning the past two WNBA championships.
