WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Platform Specialty Products Corp. (PAH) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $12 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The West Palm Beach, Florida-based company said it had net income of 4 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 26 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 24 cents per share.

The specialty chemical and printing products posted revenue of $1.02 billion in the period.

Platform Specialty shares have increased 24 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 16 percent in the last 12 months.
