MESA, Ariz. (AP) _ Angels pitcher John Lackey made his first start of spring training, pitching one inning and walking four as a Los Angeles Angels' split squad lost to the Chicago Cubs 7-6 Friday.

Lackey issued consecutive walks to Todd Walker, Jacque Jones, Marquis Grissom and John Mabry.

Chone Figgins hit a two-run homer and Adam Kennedy a solo shot.

Notes: Two Angels were taken to a hospital for precautionary X-rays. Robb Quinlan fouled a ball off his left shin in the first inning. Nick Gorneault injured his left wrist sliding into second base in the second. ... Cubs RHP Kerry Wood threw on the outfield grass before the game from up to 120 feet. He had arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday in Los Angeles.
