SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) _ Police arrested 552 people wanted on homicide, drug, theft and other charges Thursday in raids throughout Puerto Rico.

Police also seized 30 firearms, 16 vehicles and dozens of small packages of cocaine and heroin, said Police Chief Pedro Toledo.

Thursday's raids were the latest in a series of police operations that often net dozens or even hundreds of people wanted on various charges. Many of those arrested are often quickly released on bail.

Among those arrested Thursday was a man wanted for allegedly killing two people in the northern town of Trujillo Alto and a doctor at the Veterans Hospital accused by police of buying cocaine.
