CAREFREE, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a vehicle passenger who fired gunshots at Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers during a police chase was on probation for drug convictions.
Records released Monday say 25-year-old Ray Rudy Saucedo leaned out of the vehicle window to fire at officers.
A police vehicle was struck by gunfire, but no injuries were reported.
Saucedo and 30-year-old Tiffany Avalos, who was driving the sedan in which Saucedo was traveling, were booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
The chase started after the sedan was spotted speeding Sunday on Interstate 17, one mile north of Black Canyon City
Investigators say the sedan was reported stolen out of New Mexico.
Saucedo and Avalos were later arrested at a bagel shop.
It's unclear whether Saucedo and Avalos have yet been assigned attorneys.
