FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — Two people accused of interfering with police just prior to a shooting that injured two Falmouth officers have appeared in court.

Thirty-eight-year-old Kimberly Koval and 18-year-old Marcus Maseda were charged with interfering with duties of an officer at a Falmouth arraignment Monday.

The officers, Ryan Moore and Donald DeMiranda, are recovering after the shooting on Friday.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe says police returned fire, hitting the suspected shooter, 21-year-old Malik Koval, several times. Koval is being treated at a Boston hospital, where he could be arraigned later this week.

Family members say Maseda and Kimberly Koval allegedly tried to block officers as Koval left the house. Their attorney disputed police accounts saying they in no way interfered with police.
