MIAMI (AP) _ John Nemechek, a NASCAR truck series driver, died Friday from massive brain injuries suffered in a racing crash. He was 27.
He had been in a coma since the crash March 16 at the Homestead Motorsports Complex near Miami.
Nemechek's brother, NASCAR Winston Cup driver Joe Nemechek, and other family members were at his side when he died.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Former Florida A&M University President Benjamin L. Perry Jr. died Friday from injuries suffered in a car accident. He was 79.
Perry was injured March 10 when he stepped off a curb and was hit by a car. The woman driving the car was not charged.
Perry, college president from 1968 to 1977, is credited with preventing Florida A&M from being forced to merge with neighboring Florida State University. Perry also created the Florida A&M Foundation, Naval ROTC program, and schools of business and architecture at the university.
