WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) — A Maui Fire Department helicopter airlifted two people Saturday.
The Maui News (http://bit.ly/1zm6uY3) reports a 68-year-old San Diego woman hiking with friends fell 25 feet from a cliff onto rocks at Red Sands Beach in Hana.
Fire Department spokesman Edward Taomoto says the woman suffered serious injuries to her head, arms and hips.
Three divers a short time later called 911 to report a man at the bottom of a 100-foot cliff near Milepost 5 on Kahekili Highway in Waihee.
Two rescue firefighters were lowered by long line to the 41-year-old Wailuku man.
He was packaged in a rescue basket and airlifted to a landing zone. The exhausted man said he had been stuck at the bottom of the cliff since Friday.
