HOME SWEET HOME
Sergei Berezin scored the 10,000th home goal in Canadiens franchise history as Montreal beat San Jose 3-1. The Canadiens are the first team in NHL history with that many goals in home games. The Canadiens have scored goals in five different home arenas _ plus at three neutral sites, which count toward home-game totals _ since the league's inaugural season of 1917-18. The team scored 8,880 goals in 2,320 regular season games at the Montreal Forum from 1924-96. Boston is second in home goals with 9,343 goals in 2,601 home games.
Washington lost in overtime for the first time this season, when Stu Barnes scored 90 seconds into the extra period Sunday for Buffalo's 3-2 win. Washington was 5-0-8 in overtime this season entering the game.
No penalties were called on Buffalo in Washington on Sunday _ and the Capitals received none after the first period.
Sharks captain Owen Nolan missed his third straight game with a sore back as San Jose lost 3-1 in Montreal.
