INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Stefka Kostadinova of Bulgaria broke her world indoor record in the women's high jump, clearing 6 feet, 8 3/4 inches Sunday in the World Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Kostadinova, also the world outdoor record holder at 6-9 3/4 , cleared the record indoor height on her second try.

The leap bettered the indoor record of 6-8 1/4 she set Jan. 31 at Genoa, Italy.

Kostadinovav then missed three times ta 6-10 1/4 , which would have been the best jump indoors or outdoors for a woman.
