HAMPTON, Va. (AP) _ Al Bell hit two free throws with 32 seconds left and Hampton held on to beat Morgan State 61-59 Saturday.

Hampton (4-12, 3-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led 35-24 at the half. Morgan State (4-12, 3-4) opened the second half with a 17-5 run, including three dunks by Rasheed Sparks to take a 41-40 lead with 12:15 left.

The Pirates quickly retook the lead with consecutive 3s from Torrey Farrington and Damon Lumpkin. Hampton looked to have the game in hand leading 58-51 with 5:10 left when Jerard Rucker scored five consecutive points to close the gap. Morgan State's Tremain Byrd tied the score at 59 with 32 seconds remaining.

After Bell's free throws, Morgan State missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Marcus Jenkins led the Pirates with 15 points. Bell and Damon Lumpkin had 14 apiece. Lumpkin hit 4 of 6 from beyond the arc.

Both teams shot poorly. Hampton hit 37 percent from the field on 23-for-61 shooting and Morgan State shoot 43 percent on 22-of-51 shooting.

Morgan State was led by Byrd and Sparks with 14 apiece. Chris Watson grabbed 14 rebounds, nine of them defensive.

Hampton's victory breaks a two-game losing streak.
