NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) _ Three Northwestern State football players were suspended after police accused them of breaking into a campus building and stealing a television set.

Trell Thomas Warren Jr., 19, of Harvey; Burnell Jordan Jr., 21, of Baton Rouge; and Darvell De'Sire Bivens, 19, of Los Angeles were booked early Thursday with simple burglary and released on their own recognizance.

Warren also was arrested on a bench warrant for reckless driving.

They will be off the team until the case is resolved, head coach Sam Goodwin said.

``This is the first time in any of their lives that any of them have been in any trouble of this nature, and like all of our players, they know we do not condone this kind of conduct,'' he said.

Natchitoches police said they stopped a truck on the Louisiana Highway 1 Bypass around 2:30 a.m. Thursday and spotted something under a blanket in the truck's bed. The item was a 35-inch television with an NSU property sticker on it, police said.

Jordan, a sophomore defensive lineman, played briefly in five games last fall.

Bivens, a sophomore fullback, and Warren, a freshman defensive back, did not play last fall. Bivens was expected to get significant playing time this season.
