MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Rob Welch hit seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 23 points Saturday to lead Wright State to a 76-74 victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The Raiders, who snapped a four-game losing streak, are 7-11 overall and 3-4 in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference. Vitaly Potapenko added 19 points for Wright State.
Milwaukee, led by Pat McCabe with 21 points, fell to 2-15 and 1-6.
Milwaukee, which had been on top by five at the half, led 51-50 after a basket by McCabe with 9:58 left but the Raiders scored 17 straight points to lead 67-51 with 4:38 left to play. Welch's second 3-pointer in the string ended the scoring streak for Wright State.
Nathan Schrameyer sank a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left to pull the Panthers to within two at 75-73. But Jon Ramey, who was fouled on the inbounds play, sank the second of two free throws to give Wright State a 76-73 lead.
Milwaukee's Kelvin Anderson made one of two free throws with seven seconds left to pull the Panthers to within two points, but he missed a driving layup at the buzzer.
Dmitre Dintchev hit a basket and Derek Durham, playing for the first time after missing three games with a foot injury, nailed a 3-pointer to give the Panthers an 18-13 lead early in the first half. But Wright State, paced by Welch with 11 points in the period, came back and tied it at 25-25 when Delme Herriman hit one of two free throws with 1:51 left.
Shannon Smith made a basket with 1:12 left to snap the tie and McCabe made a free throw and Durham a basket the rest of the way to give the Panthers a 30-25 lead at the half. Durham had 8 points in the first half and Smith and McCabe 7 apiece.
