TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Ryan Johnson, a restricted free agent, signed a one-year contract Monday to stay with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

``I'm obviously excited to get this done,'' the 24-year-old center said. ``I didn't want it to interfere with training camp. Now I can concentrate on being ready and helping the team have a good start to the year.''

Johnson had two assists in 14 games with the Lightning after he was acquired from Florida. In 66 games with the Panthers, he scored four goals and set up 12 others.

``We feel Ryan is a big piece of our future,'' general manager Rick Dudley. ``He has a lot of speed and uses it well.''

The Lightning still have four remaining restricted free agents, including defenseman Kaspars Astashenko, Pavel Kubina and Bryan Muir and center Wayne Primeau.
