Hector Quirov of Mexico Defeats Russell Mosley

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Hector Quirov of Mexico knocked out Russell Mosley of San Diego in the second round of their junior welterweight bout Thursday night at the Grand Olympic Auditorium.
Quirov floored Mosley twice with combinations in the second round, and referee Robert Byrd stopped the scheduled 10-round fight after the second knockdown.
Quirov improved to 20-1 with 18 knockouts. Mosley fell to 9-17-1 with three knockouts. Both fighters weighed 140 pounds.
In two other scheduled 10-round bouts, David Dixon of Los Angeles knocked out Mauricio Villegas of Mexico in the third round of their heavyweight fight.
Jesus Hernandez of Los Angeles knocked out Olegario Deleon of Canoga Park in the second round of their junior lightweight bout.
Dixon, weighing 270, is 19-2 with 17 knockouts. Villegas, 274, is 23-13 with 16 knockouts.
Hernandez is 13-8 with 11 knockouts. Deleon is 5-6-1 with two knockouts. Both fighters weighed 132 pounds.
