NY officials schedule meeting on wilderness management
Apr. 02, 2018
NEWCOMB, N.Y. (AP) — State officials are conducting a public meeting on management plans for the recently expanded Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness.
The meeting Tuesday night in Newcomb will deal with the classification of over 11,000 acres of the Boreas Ponds tract as wilderness, 9,118 acres as wild forest, 11 acres as primitive and two acres as state administrative land.
Written comments on the management plan will be accepted until April 20.
The Boreas Ponds action completes a multi-year land deal with The Nature Conservancy that's added 65,000 acres to the Adirondack Forest Preserve.
