LePage approves $115 million bond sale after June rejection
Jul. 13, 2018
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine Gov. Paul LePage has signed off on the sale of about $115 million in bonds which he previously blocked.
In June, the Republican governor refused to allow the bond sale to go through, saying he was worried about how much the Legislature was spending. Maine Public reports State Treasurer Terry Hayes says she should be able to complete the bond sale before ongoing projects run out of money.
Hayes says she is not sure if LePage's delay will cost taxpayers extra to complete the sale, but expects pricing for bidders will emerge in August.
