HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) _ Zimbabwe won the doubles Saturday and took a 2-1 lead over Nigeria in the semifinals of African Zone Davis Cup tennis play at the Sports Center.
Zimbabwe's Byron Black and Greg Rodger defeated Nduka Odizor and Sadiq Abdullah of Nigeria 8-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in a match lasting more than two hours under a scorching sun.
The countries split the opening singles matches Friday.
Reverse singles will be held Sunday. Rodger, beaten by Odizor on Friday, plays Tony Mmoh. Mmoh lost to Black after retiring in the fifth set with a sprained left leg, an injury that didn't see to bother the Nigerian in the doubles.
