ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) _ Gianni Comandini scored twice in the first half, leading Italy to a 3-1 victory over Honduras and a berth in the quarterfinals of the Olympic men's soccer tournament.
The win left Italy as the sole leader in Group A with six points. Nigeria has four points after beating Australia 3-2. Honduras has one point and Australia none.
Comandini scored in the 12th and 21st minutes. He headed in his first goal by taking advantage of a mistake by a Honduran defender, who lost track of him.
Massimo Ambrosini made it 2-0 at 17 minutes on a header, connecting off a centering pass by Gennaro Gattusso from the right wing.
Comandini made it 3-0 on a low shot from inside the penalty area.
Comandini also netted Honduras' goal in the 28th, inadvertently heading in a corner kick by Julio Leon for an own goal.
In the second half, Honduras missed a couple of scoring chances, as did Italy. Honduran goalie Noel Valladares made two excellent saves on shots by Nicola Ventola.
