WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Bush relaxed with friends at Camp David on Saturday and was briefed on the latest developments in the military campaign in Afghanistan, White House officials said.

Bush was joined at the presidential retreat in Maryland by his chief of staff, Andrew Card, and his national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice. The three took part in a morning teleconference with security officials in Washington, said White House spokesman Anne Womack.

She said the president and first lady Laura Bush were joined at Camp David by friends whom she declined to name.
