ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — Friends and family of a man and two young girls killed when a car struck a group of pedestrians in northern Indiana are still searching for answers while police remain tight-lipped.

The nighttime hit-and-run on Aug. 26 in Elkhart killed 8-month-old Dolly Smith, 11-year-old Courtney Smith and 22-year-old Shawn Wolcott. Two others were also hit, but survived.

A 1999 Cadillac that police believe hit the group was found three days later, but no arrests have been made. Elkhart police Sgt. Chris Snyder tells the South Bend Tribune that detectives continue working on the crash and declined to say whether they have any suspects.

Yvonne Thomas is Dolly Smith's grandmother. She says police are doing all they can and that she's frustrated with the driver not taking responsibility.
