DUBLIN, Ireland (AP) _ Inflation hit a 15-year high of 6.2 percent in July, up from a 5.9 percent annual rate the previous month, the government said Tuesday.

The government's report noted that transportation costs have risen by 9 percent in the past year, while costs for fuel and electric power were up 7.1 percent. Tobacco prices jumped 17.4 percent because of increased taxes.
