Stamford Police arrest driver in fatal car accident

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — Stamford Police have made an arrest in their investigation into a fatal car crash.
The accident occurred Nov. 22 when a BMW traveling northbound on Washington Blvd. at a high rate of speed lost control and struck a tree off the east side of the roadway.
The driver, 20-year-old Kadeem Mitchell of Stamford, and his passenger, 19-year-old Stamford resident Donte Smith, were freed from the car and taken to Stamford Hospital by ambulance.
Smith later died of his injuries.
Mitchell was released from medical treatment on Saturday and taken into custody on a warrant charging him with second degree manslaughter.
He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and surrendering his passport. He's scheduled to be arraigned at Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 29.
