Francis also had eight rebounds for Iowa State (8-1) and the Cyclones had four players in double figures. Megan Taylor scored 14 points, Stacy Frese added 12 and Monica Huelman had 10.

A 17-0 run midway through the first half allowed the Cyclones to take control. The game was tied 14-14 before Iowa State's surge.

The Cyclones took a 29-14 lead on Taylor's 3-pointer with 5:41 left in the first half and stretched the lead to 42-20 at halftime.

Iowa State's biggest lead came at 69-31 on Haugen's basket with 10:09 left.

Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly emptied his bench at that point, allowing Buffalo (7-4) to cut 16 points off the Iowa State lead.

The Cyclones shot 44.4 percent from the field, and were 9-of-22 from 3-point range. They also were 12-of-14 at the free-throw line and outrebounded Buffalo 45-29.

Iowa State held Buffalo to 36.7 percent shooting, a figure that was much lower until the Bulls made their late-game surge, during which they sank four of five 3-pointers.
