H.B. Fuller to Sell Sanitation Chemicals Business to Ecolab
Jun. 20, 1996
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) _ H.B. Fuller said Thursday that it will sell its Monarch sanitation chemicals business to Ecolab Inc. for an undisclosed price.
The company said sanitation chemicals no longer fit well with Fuller's core businesses. Fuller makes adhesives, sealants, coatings, paints and other specialty chemical products.
The Monarch division manufactures sanitation and water treatment chemicals for the food and beverage processing industries. The unit accounted for just over $30 million of Fuller's $1.2 billion in sales last year.
The deal, which is subject to federal regulatory approval, is expected to be completed within six weeks, Fuller said.
Both Fuller and Ecolab are based in St. Paul.
Ecolab develops and sells cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance products and services. The company had sales of $1.3 billion last year.
