Dec. 27, 2013
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (AP) — One person was killed and three others injured in a head-on crash in Williamstown that occurred during a snowfall.
Police say the woman who died in the Thursday crash on Route 7 was a passenger in a Hyundai Elantra that collided with a Buick Lucerne. She was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where she was pronounced dead. Each vehicle had two occupants.
Sgt. Scott McGowan tells the North Adams Transcript (http://bit.ly/1hINJYF ) that three other people were taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield with injuries that were serious but did not appear life-threatening.
No names were released.
McGowan says while the accident remains under investigation, weather conditions appear to be a factor.
The road was closed for more than six hours after the accident.
