COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) — Summer graduates of Mississippi University for Women will get encouragement from Dr. Sheila Adams, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, who will give the commencement address.

The university says Adams will address about 400 candidates at graduation on Friday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m. in Rent Auditorium, Whitfield Hall.

Over her 47-year career, Adams served in a variety of health care roles before entering higher education. During her tenure at The W, the college has expanded its hybrid online-classroom RN to BSN program, which allows working nurses to earn an additional degree, and, in 2013, added the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

Adams has also twice served as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at The W.
