LONDON (AP) _ Champion Lennox Lewis was more than 13 pounds heavier than South African challenger Frans Botha when the heavyweights weighed in Thursday for Saturday's IBF and WBC world title fight.
The 6-foot-5 Lewis, making his eighth defense in his 13th world title fight, checked in at 250 pounds. The 6-2 Botha weighed 236 7-8 pounds.
More than 1,000 people watched as the fighters appeared on an open-air stage at Covent Garden, one of central London's busiest tourist spots. They meet at the 12,000-capacity London Arena
Lewis, who won the Olympic superheavyweight title for Canada in 1988, returned to Britain to fight as a pro and has one loss and one draw against 36 wins, 28 by knockout. Botha has a 40-2-1 record plus one no contest.
