LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) _ Salaheddine Bassir scored in the 84th minute Tuesday night to give Morocco a 1-0 win over the Republic of Congo in the first round of the African Nations Cup.

In the other game, Senegal beat Burkina Faso 3-1 at Kano, Nigeria, on goals by Ousmane Diop in the third minute, Pape Sarr in the 45th and Salif Keita in the 86th. Ousmane Sanou scored for Burkina Faso in the 67th.

Senegal and Egypt (both 1-0) are tied for the Group C lead, with Burkina Faso and Zambia (each 0-1) tied for third. The top two nations in each of the four four-team groups advance to the quarterfinals.

Nigeria and Morocco are 1-0 in Group D, while Republic of Congo and Tunisia are 0-1.
