SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Beryl is expected to hit the eastern Caribbean as a hurricane instead of dissipating, threatening islands still trying to recover from last year's storms, forecasters said Friday. The hurricane gained strength Friday morning and was a Category 1 storm with maximum sustained winds of nearly 80 mph (130 kph), according to the National Hurricane Center. It is expected to pass near Dominica and the French Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique late Sunday or Monday. By Danica Coto. SENT: 352 words. CHRIS BROWN ARRESTED
ST. PETERSBURG — Singer Chris Brown walked off stage after his concert in Florida and into the hands of waiting deputies, who arrested him on a felony battery charge involving a nightclub photographer last year. FIREWORKS DEATH-FLORIDA — A Florida teenager has died in a fireworks explosion, while several other people have blown off their fingers or injured their eyes.

BOATER RESCUE — Officials say a good Samaritan and the U.S. Coast Guard saved two boaters after their 25-foot (8-meter) boat capsized in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida.
SUNBATHERS-CAR — Authorities say a car ran over two sunbathers at a Florida beach. The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that the injuries occurred Thursday on New Smyrna Beach.
MISSING MAN-BODY — A Florida man reported missing from a Fourth of July beach party has been found dead.
ROBBERY-ASSAULT — Authorities say a man kidnapped and robbed two women in central Florida before making his way down the state and robbing another.
