HILLSDALE, Mich. (AP) _ General Mills Inc. said Tuesday that it was closing its Pillsbury plant here, a move that will cost about 119 workers their jobs by the end of 2002.
Golden Valley, Minn.-based General Mills said it will cease production at its Hillsdale dry mix plant and will sell the flour mill business it purchased from Pillsbury Co. in October.
The plant will close near the end of the year, the company said.
``The last date of active work for affected employees has not yet been determined,'' General Mills spokeswoman Marybeth Thorsgaard told the Hillsdale Daily News. ``Details will be shared with employees as soon as they are available.''
General Mills said it was closing the plant because the company has too much production capacity.
