Massachusetts Jury Convicts Teen-Age English Au Pair Louise Woodward of Second-Degree Murder in Killing of 8-Month-Old Baby
It took jurors approximately 27 hours over three days to convict Louise Woodward, now 19, in the death of 8-month-old Matthew Eappen. The child died in the hospital Feb. 9, five days after Woodward called an emergency operator to say he was unconscious.
The three-week trial has riveted audiences in the United States and Britain, where gavel-to-gavel television coverage has turned the case into a real-life drama.
