Nov. 29, 2017
FLORISSANT, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say an off-duty officer has shot and wounded an armed woman after she ran out of a suburban St. Louis bar where a man had been shot while trying to protect her.
St. Louis County police said in a news release that the man and woman, both 23, were taken to a hospital in critical condition late Tuesday. Gunfire first erupted after the man confronted someone who had physically assaulted the woman inside Club Cuetopia in Florissant
The woman then ran outside the bar with a handgun. Police say a uniformed off-duty officer who was providing security confronted her and shot her when she "flourished" the weapon.
Police say the person accused of assaulting the woman and shooting the man who defended her is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
