The Lexington, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 26 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 41 cents per share.

The drug developer posted revenue of $2.4 million in the period.

The company's shares closed at $1.87. A year ago, they were trading at $8.35.
