South Carolina man sues doctor in wife's septic shock death
Mar. 01, 2018
BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina man whose wife underwent major spinal surgery in December 2016 and died less than a year later has sued a doctor claiming her negligence contributed to his wife's health decline.
The Island Packet reports Elbert C. Jackson Jr. filed the lawsuit Feb. 19 in the Beaufort County Court of Common Pleas on behalf of his and his wife's estate against Dr. Wendy Kloesz.
It says Veronica Jackson was admitted to a Hilton Head Island hospital in September 2017 for sepsis and septic shock before she died on Oct. 9. It says Jackson told Kloesz during a January 2017 visit that she might have a urinary tract infection, and claims Kloesz failed to respond in a timely manner.
The Packet reports the plaintiff's and defendant's attorneys wouldn't comment.
