ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) _ Cornell football coach Tim Pendergast was fired Tuesday after his team posted a 1-9 record this season.

Pendergast coached three seasons for the Big Red, compiling an overall record of 7-22 and 5-16 in the Ivy League.

The school said it will begin looking for a new coach immediately.

Pendergast's team went 0-7 in the Ivy League this year and finished its season Saturday with a 59-7 loss to league champion Penn.
