CHICAGO (AP) _ Mark Miller, who led Illinois-Chicago to its first NCAA tournament appearance ever, declared himself eligible Monday for next month's NBA draft.

Miller was the Midwestern Collegiate Conference player of the year after averaging 19.7 points and 5.4 rebounds for the Flames (22-6), who lost to North Carolina Charlotte in the first round of the tournament.

He has not hired an agent. Therefore, if not drafted, he could return to the Flames as a fifth-year senior next season.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound guard averaged 17.4 points and 4.4 rebounds during his three-year college career.

As a senior, he led Westinghouse High School to the Chicago Public League title in 1994.

Only three Illinois-Chicago players have ever been drafted by the NBA. The last was Sherell Ford, picked in the first round in 1995 by the Seattle SuperSonics.
